It can sometimes be challenging to determine if the board is booting up. For example, when using DisplayPort over USB-C, the monitor only shows a response from board once the system has reached the Ubuntu desktop screen. It leaves me in a catch22 situation to determine whether or not I actually broke the linux distribution.

Certainly, thing with the Type-C DP is, drivers are not there for the Type-C DP in u-boot, drivers are there only in kernel, so after booting the kernel DP starts.
The solution is to include the DP driver in u-boot as well, but we haven’t tried that till now. Would definitely appreciate if someone creates pull request for this.
