USB 3.2 Port Not Working with OAK-D Lite on Vicharak Axon

Hi everyone,

I am facing an issue while connecting an OAK-D Lite camera to my Vicharak Axon.

The board has two USB 3.2 ports. When I connect the camera to the first USB 3.2 port, it is detected and works normally. However, when I connect the same camera to the second USB 3.2 port, it is not detected at all.

I also noticed that if the OAK-D Lite starts drawing higher power, the USB port seems to shut off automatically, as if overcurrent protection is being triggered.

My observations:

  • OAK-D Lite works correctly on one USB 3.2 port.
  • The second USB 3.2 port does not detect the camera.
  • If the camera’s power consumption increases, the USB connection appears to be cut off automatically.

Could someone please clarify:

  1. Are both USB 3.2 ports expected to fully support OAK-D Lite?
  2. Does the Axon implement USB overcurrent protection that disables the port when power draw exceeds a limit?
  3. Is there a per-port current limit or a hardware limitation on one of the USB 3.2 ports?
  4. Are there any recommended settings, firmware updates, or powered USB hub recommendations for using OAK-D Lite reliably?

  1. Both the USB 3.1 ports are similar so, both can support OAK-D Lite.

  2. Can you flash this updated image: it should solve the problem of one port not detecting the camera (https://downloads.vicharak.in/vicharak-axon/ubuntu/24_noble/V2.0.1_vicharak_axon_6.1_03072026-ubuntu-noble-24.04-raw.tar.gz)

  3. Yes, Axon does have a max limit of 1.45 A on its type-c ports

  4. OAK-D lite is rated max 1.5 A , so it is possible that it misbehaves during startup or heavy AI workloads

  5. We will provide detailed instructions on how to increase the current limit on the Type-C ports. You might have to change a resistor or send the board back to us for it to be changed.
